Configuring SpamAssassin with Web mail

Probably the easiest way to configure SpamAssassin for your needs is to use your web browser.

1. Go to http://webmail.nmt.edu, our Web-based mail reader that uses a package called SquirrelMail.
2. Enter your TCC username and password, and click the ``Login'' button. This takes you to the main SquirrelMail screen.
3. Across the second line from the top of the screen, you will seen a line of links that says ``Compose Addresses Folders Options Search Help SpamFilter''. Click on SpamFilter.
4. You will see the ``General Options'' page for configuring SpamAssassin.

Values you might want to change:

• See General options for overall settings: filtering level, what to do with filtered mail, and so on.
• See Configuring whitelists and blacklists to filter or not filter mail from certain sites.
• See Configuring SpamAssassin rules to add or change the numerical scoring of certain spam filtering rules.
