Configuring off-campus mail and news

To use our mail and news server from other systems, you will need these Internet addresses:

Service	Address
imap mail (preferred)	mailhost.nmt.edu port 143
pop3 mail	mailhost.nmt.edu port 110
smtp mail	mailhost.nmt.edu port 25
Name server	internaldns0.nmt.edu (129.138.4.138); backup, externaldns0 (129.138.4.63).
News (Usenet)	newshost.nmt.edu

Notes:

• SMTP should use the MSA port, 587. Port 587 is MSAS, and port 25 is MTA.
• Off-campus users should select "use AUTH" and "TLS/STARTTLS" for sending mail.

All mail servers support the STARTTLS protocol to provide authentication, privacy, and data integrity.
