Configuring off-campus mail and news

To use our mail and news server from other systems, you
will need these Internet addresses:

| imap mail (preferred)
| mailhost.nmt.edu port 143
|
| pop3 mail
| mailhost.nmt.edu port 110
|
| smtp mail
| mailhost.nmt.edu port 25
|
| Name server | internaldns0.nmt.edu (129.138.4.138);
backup, externaldns0 (129.138.4.63).
|
| News (Usenet) | newshost.nmt.edu
|
Notes:
- SMTP should use the MSA port, 587. Port 587 is MSAS,
and port 25 is MTA.
- Off-campus users should select "use AUTH" and "TLS/STARTTLS"
for sending mail.
All mail servers support the
STARTTLS
protocol to provide authentication, privacy, and data integrity.
