Transferring files from the TCC to your Windows system
|
|
As of January 2008, the TCC no longer permits file transfers
using ftp (File Transfer Protocol). This protocol
is not secure for the transfer of sensitive information.
Use the sftp protocol, which is password-protected
and encrypted.
To transfer files from your Tech Computer Center account to
your Windows system, follow these steps.
- If you need a good file transfer program, see
installing winscp.
- If you have a lot of files to transfer, first create an
archive file that combines into a single file all the files
you want to transfer. See `Making archive files in Windows'.
- Use winscp to transfer your archive file, or
transfer the files individually if there aren't too many.
See Using winscp
to transfer files.
- If you used an archive file, see `Extracting archive files in Windows'.
