Transferring files from your Windows system to the TCC
As of January 2008, the TCC no longer permits file transfers
using ftp (File Transfer Protocol). This protocol
is not secure for the transfer of sensitive information.
Use the sftp protocol, which is password-protected
To transfer files from your Windows system to your Tech
Computer Center account, follow these steps.
- If you need a good file transfer program, see
- If you have a lot of files to transfer, first create an
archive file that combines into a single file all the files
you want to transfer. See `Making archive files in Windows'.
- Use winscp to transfer your archive file, or
transfer the files individually if there aren't too many.
- If you used an archive file, see `Extracting archive files in Windows'.
