File transfer: moving files to or from the TCC
The TCC no longer allows file transfer using the insecure,
obsolete ftp (File Transfer Protocol) method.
Its use must be replaced by the sftp
(Secure File Transfer Protocol) method.
- If you have some application set to upload and
download files from server ftp.nmt.edu,
change the server name to sftp.nmt.edu.
Many applications, such as Dreamweaver,
can upload files to your TCC account. These applications must
be reconfigured to use sftp protocol for transfers
instead of ftp.
In particular, for Dreamweaver users, see
`Transferring files from Dreamweaver to the TCC'.
- If your program does not support sftp connections, you
can download MindTerm, which is free for personal use. It allows you to
create an ftp to sftp bridge that will allow
your ftp program to transfer files with sftp.
