VPN (Virtual Private Network) with MacOS X Jaguar (10.2)

These instructions apply to using VPN with Mac OS X Jaguar (10.2).

1. Setting up DHCP is necessary only if you are connecting to a TCC port or a TCC wireless router.
2. Creating a VPN connection

How to enable DHCP

1. Choose System Preferences... from the Apple menu.
2. Click the Network icon under "Internet & Network."
3. If the padlock icon is locked, click it and authenticate.
4. Select Built-in Ethernet or Airport, whichever you are using, from the Show: selection menu.
5. Click the TCP/IP tab and choose Using DHCP from the Configure: selection menu.
6. Enter 129.138.4.138 and 129.138.250.10 in the DNS Servers: text box.
7. Enter nmt.edu in the Search Domains: text box.
8. Click the Apply Now button and close System Preferences.

1. Navigate to /Applications in the Finder and run the Internet Connect application.
2. Choose New VPN Connection Window from the File menu.
3. Enter 129.138.4.253 in the Server address: text box.
4. Enter your TCC account name in the User name: text box, and your TCC account password in the Password: text box. Make sure Add to Keychain is checked!
5. Click the Connect button, and a VPN connection will be created.

   

6. After the VPN connection is established, click the Disconnect button to close it, and quit Internet Connect.
7. Choose System Preferences... from the Apple menu.
8. Click the Network icon under Internet & Network.
9. If the padlock icon is locked, click it and authenticate.
10. Select PPTP from the Show: selection menu.
11. Enter 129.138.4.138 and 129.138.250.10 in the DNS Servers: text box.
12. Enter nmt.edu in the Search Domains: text box.
13. Click the Apply Now button and close System Preferences.
14. You may now click the Connect button again in the Internet Connect application to connect to the VPN.
