Logging out

Tech Computer Center logo

When you have finished working, you must log out. This protects your files from tampering by others, and also makes the facilities available for other users.

How to log out

  1. From the Unix prompt, type "logout".
  2. If you get the message "There are stopped jobs", this means that you have left at least one program running. Either kill any stopped jobs, or just type "logout" a second time to log out.
