How to organize large collections of files

The Unix file system organizes files into directories. A file directory is sort of a container that holds other files.

If you have a lot of files to organize, you will need to understand:

• `Changing your current working directory'
• `Moving a file to a different directory'
• `Creating a directory'
• `Getting rid of a directory'
• `Changing the name or location of a directory'
• `How to make a file appear in multiple directories'
• `How to move an entire directory tree'
