Connecting to the TCC with the PuTTY utility

Tech Computer Center logo

To use PuTTY to connect to a Linux system at the TCC:

  1. Open the PuTTY application.
  2. Double click on one of the names in the "Saved Sessions" box. The author suggests "rainbow", but it doesn't matter for basic use. The first entry, "Default Settings", won't work.
  3. The first time you do this, something like this will come up:
    putty alert
    Click on "Yes".
  4. After that, and every other time you connect, you will get this screen:
    putty login screen
Enter your username and password here.
  5. If all goes well, you should get to something like this:
    putty connected
and you can do what you normally would with a terminal connection to the TCC.
