Chunking procedures
|
|
When you are explaining a step-by-step procedure, the most obvious
way to do it is with a numbered list (<ol>...</ol>).
However, if the procedure does not fit nicely into one screen, you
may want to break it up into several chunks. There are several ways
to go about this.
- Simply put a few steps on each chunk, and then use
a ``Next'' link at the and of each chunk but the last.
- Use just an outline of the procedure on the first page.
Make each step in the outline a link to a page describing
just that step. Use ``Next'' and ``Previous'' links to
connect the pages for each step.
- Let the first page be an outline of the whole procedure,
but with the first step expanded to include the details
about that step. The second page also has the whole
procedure, but with only the second step expanded.
