menu bar

A menu bar is a set of controls found running horizontally across some windows, near the top, containing a list of words such as ``File'' and ``Help.''

Usually each word on a menu bar is a pulldown menu (which see).

In many window applications, you terminate the application by pulling down the File menu and selecting Exit.
