TeX, a typesetting tool

If you want to typeset documents of high quality, especially if they include mathematical formulas, TeX is an excellent choice.

TeX is actually a family of tools, based on the TeX language.

• The basic dialect is called Plain TeX. Also available are some `Lecture notes for CS306, Practicum in TeX', which pertain to Plain TeX.
• `Including PostScript images in Plain TeX'
• We also have LaTeX, a simplified typesetting system.
• `Including PostScript images in LaTeX'
• `Direct translation of TeX to PDF'
• PicTeX is a set of functions for drawing pictures. You can include PicTeX figures with either Plain TeX or LaTeX documents. (No documentation is available at present.)
