Setting up your account to use Sybase

Before you begin using Sybase SQL Server, you must set up some new environment variables for your account.

1. Determine your shell by typing this Unix command:

           echo $shell

   Your shell is probably bash, sh, csh, or tcsh.
   • If you are using bash or sh, edit your .profile file and add this line:

             source /usr/local/sybase/tcc/sybase-sh

   • If you are using csh or tcsh, edit your .cshrc file and add this line:

             source /usr/local/sybase/tcc/sybase-csh

   This will cause your shell to set up the environment variables for you.
