9.2.   Using the phone

The phone is there for official use. It is not there to be tied up with personal calls. (There is a courtesy phone, campus calls only, in Speare 14 for people needing to call somebody on campus. Some public phones are in the Student Services Center.)

If you want to forward any calls to another phone while you are away from the Help Desk you can use the following.   Here are instructions (from Cat Craig) on transferring phone calls.

To forward after three rings

Dial *3

Dial the extension

Hear weird tone, and then hang up the phone

To unforward from 3 rings

Dial #3

Hear weird tone, then hang up the phone

To forward all the time

Dial *2

Dial the extension

Hear weird tone, then hang up the phone

To unforward from all calls

Dial #2

Hear weird tone, then hang up the phone

Remember, whichever * you choose, then use the same number with # to cancel.

The UC Office phone is an AVAYA D-Term (digital telephone).   Some instructions for it's use can be found at ISD's phone web page .   The instructions above for forwarding calls will work on the AVAYA (the forwarding is actually a function of the telephone switch).
