The Manager of User Services will supervise your work. Any task assignments you have should come from him. If somebody else wants to assign you a task outside the area of your normal duties phone the Manager of User Services and check with him before accepting the task. This will help ensure that your supervisor knows what demands are being placed on your time (i.e. help keep you from becoming overloaded), as well as help remove the problems which can arise from having more than one boss. Be sure to file a Project ticket for each task you have.
There is usually no supervision at the help desk, except during training. Office work will be supervised as needed. In general, a User Consultant will be expected to perform their duties without much supervision. For tasks requiring knowledge or skills not previously held the UC may require some assistance from other TCC personnel but should still be able to perform most of the work on their own.
If you are having difficulties with something, or don't know the answer, ask other people. In general you would ask, pretty much in order: the Senior UC, other UCs, the Manager of User Services, or people from another TCC group. There's too much here for any one person to just know off the top of their head and different people know different things about TCC operations, machines, hardware, network, and software. This being the case, you're likely to get different answers for the same question if you ask several people about it (this may make asking more than one person the way to go sometimes). If you're in doubt as to which way a thing should be done check with the person in charge of that area, and the person who requested the task be done.
