Minimum Pentium configuration

This configuration is recommended by the New Mexico Tech Computer Center for use with the software packages we give away. You can purchase any computer that you want, however, NMT Computer Center will not work on or answer questions regarding them unless they conform to the Hardware Standrads.

  1. Motherboard
    1. Pentium 100 MHz Intel Processor, Triton chipset
    2. 256K cache RAM
    3. 3-PCI/4-ISA slots, EIDE built in
    4. 2 serial ports, 1 parallel port
    5. 230W power supply
    6. Novell compatible
  2. Memory: 16MB (Two 8MB EDO SIMM modules)
  3. Hard Disk: Conner 850MB IDE Hard Disk
  4. I/O
    1. Two 16550 (Compatible) High Speed Serial Ports
    2. Bidirectional Parallel Port, Enhanced EPP compatible
  5. Video: Diamond Stealth 3200 PCI Video with 2MB
  6. Keyboard: Fujitsu FKB4870 (101 style) or equivalent
  7. Network: SMC EtherPoser 10/100 PCI (10BaseT/RJ-45) or Addtron AE-200C (10BaseT/RJ-45) not plug/play or AT1500T or AT1500Plus by Allied Telesis
  8. Mouse: 3-button serial Logitech Mouseman
  9. Monitor: Sony 15" color
  10. 3.5" 1.44MB TEAC floppy disk
  11. Desktop case
  12. Meet or exceed all FCC Class B, U.L. and CSA requirements.
  13. Suggested Software and OS that is used at the TCC at NMT (If you want this software on your personal machine, you will have to purchase it)
    1. Microsoft DOS 6.22 (or Later)
    2. Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11 (or Later)
    3. Linux 1.2.6 (or Later) (no charge for this package)
    4. Windows 95 is being tested
  14. Licensed Software: the following packages can be obtained at NMT
    1. Trumpet Winsock
    2. Winslip
    3. Interslip

The following vendors have submitted machines that have been tested and certified to work with the NMT network:

The following machines have been tested and are NOT certified for the NMT network:

  1. Gateway 2000
  2. Zeos
  3. Mag 15 inch monitors and Mag 17 inch monitors
