Top DonorsNew Mexico Tech is especially grateful for the several major scholarships funds established or increased during this time period. Each of these donations was matched by institutional funds and thus effectively doubled.Esther Kelly donated $135,146, to establish the John and Esther Kelly Scholarship Fund, to attract and retain students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement. The late Caroline A. McDonald left New Mexico Tech $60,000 to establish the Thomas Allan McDonald Scholarship, named after her late husband, a member of the class of 1931. Cyril and Barbara Perusek increased by $36,000 the principal of the scholarship fund in their name by donations and matching corporate funds. Cyril is a member of the class of 1942. Clifford R. Keizer and Ruth Prosser Keizer gave $12,500 to establish a scholarship fund in their names to benefit students majoring in chemistry or pursuing a science teaching career. Dr. Clifford Keizer is a professor emeritus of chemistry. Mrs. Euna Torres donated $10,165 to establish the Eugene Torres Scholarship Fund, to aid students who are graduates of Magdalena or Socorro High Schools and who have completed four years of study in good standing at New Mexico Tech but need additional support to complete their bachelor's degrees. Enid Douglas Westbrook and George Harvey Westbrook contributed a total of $10,500, including matching corporate funds, to establish the Earl and Bess Douglas Family Scholarship Fund, to aid students in good standing. TheAlumni Lifetime Scholarship Fund grew by $13,591 from 1994 to 1996. Whenever an alum pays lifetime dues of $200 to become a Lifetime Member of the Alumni Association, that amount goes into this fund. Students must meet the qualifications for either the Presidential or the Counselor's Choice scholarship to receive funding from this source. TOTAL, $277,237Other gifts to endowed scholarships from 17 additional donors listed under "President's Club" totaled $43,000. Total contributions to endowed scholarships was $320,000.
