Some job duties: Producing communications software for a client/server architecture with a socket-based network protocol. Porting, testing, validation and verification of software. Development of software upgrades for X-Motif graphical user interface using a GUI tool builder (XRT Graph). Implementing imaging and signature analysis tools. System/network administration, trouble-shooting equipment, and system set-up. Providing technical user support, writing documentation. Some travel may be required.
Requirements: bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or other engineering science with a strong background in computers plus a minimum of 1 year related experience. Strong working knowledge of C and Unix. Good working knowledge of personal computers, MS-DOS, MS-Windows. Experience with networking protocols, administration and hardware, client/server archetecture, knowledge of S-Motif user interface development, SRT Graph, computer graphics, configuration management tools, and astronomy. Ability to obtain SECRET clearance required.

Position: Upland Water Quality faculty member
Duties: Provide leadership for planning, conducting, and evaluating an educational program in water quality, consistent with local needs. The faculty member is one of a team of Cooperative Extension faculty and Sea Grant Specialists working with local governments, property owners, and the general public to address water quality issues. The target audience for the project is adults but the program includees an emphasis on training adult volunteers who will involve young people through 4-H and other youth programs.
Design educational programs, provide technical assistance; assist in coordination of educational programs; design and implement county and regional advisory systems; work with watershed councils.
Requirements: Master's degree. Prefer academic training in water resource management, environmental studies, environmental education, or other water quality-related discipline. Ability to communicate effectively. Three years experience in environmental education highly desirable. A second language, especially Spanish, highly desirable.
