Registering for Ensembles
All participants in NMT music program ensembles should officially register for the associated course(s). In some cases, it is possible to register for the Community College cross-listings of ensembles, making registration more affordable for certain undergraduates, graduate students, and community members.
The table below indicates how you can register. If you have questions, please call Dr. Dunston at 835-5200.
| If you are | You can | Approximate cost (per ensemble) |
|---|---|---|
| an undergraduate student and adding the ensemble will bring your schedule to 18 or fewer units | register for the regular college course associated with the ensemble | included in regular, full-time tuition ($10 fee may apply) |
| a graduate student and adding the ensemble will bring your schedule to 12 or fewer units | register for the regular college course associated with the ensemble | included in regular, full-time tuition ($10 fee may apply) |
| NMT faculty or staff, whether or not you are working towards another degree | register for the regular college course associated with the ensemble | $20 for fees. You may have your tuition waived by filling out the appropriate form. |
| a community member over age 65 | register for the regular college course associated with the ensemble | $5 senior tuition + $30 for fees. The discount from regular tuition requires filling out a brief form at the Registrar's office in Brown Hall. |
| not in any of the above categories BUT still want to receive academic credit for your participation in the ensemble | register for the regular college course associated with the ensemble | [please ask the registrar for cost information] |
| not in any of the above categories OR if you are ineligible for a tuition discount or waiver OR if registering for the regular college course is not possible for some other reason | register for the community college, non-credit course associated with the ensemble | $35 |
Please note that these are only guidelines, applicable to the most common situations. If you are in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, please consult your advisor, the financial aid office, and (for international students) the international students office.
NOTE: For your convenience, many of the applicable forms, such as tuition waiver forms, registrations forms, and enrollment as special undergraduate or special graduate student, will be made available to you at rehearsal for the first weeks of the semester. (If you are not a regular, full-time undergraduate student, this means that you do not have to wait in the lines on registration day.)
