The Lemonica

The Lemonica is a pair of voltage controlled oscillators whose pitch is controlled by the pair of lemons impaled on spikes made from zinc and copper. As the lemons are pushed in and out on the spikes, greater or lesser current is generated, from which is derived a voltage which controls the pitch. Pictured is the setup from a more modern work which calls for the unorthodox use of a lime and an orange instead of lemons. At the first concert of this piece, a riot almost ensued because of the agitation of a group of citrus rights extremists.
