LANGUAGE PARTNERS PROGRAM

The Language Partners Program is designed to help international students gain proficiency in the English language while building relationships with native English speaking students. Living so far from a family support system can be emotionally stressful and even basic activities such as going grocery shopping can be more difficult for the international student, who generally does not have a car. The Language Partners Program helps meet not only the educational needs of the international student, but also addresses their social and physical needs.

Requirements for Native English Partners

• Meet once a week with Language Partner for thirty minutes each week.
• Commit to weekly meeting with Language Partner for one semester.
• Meet with Language Partner on campus. Special arrangements may be made with the Language Partner for off-campus meetings (family visit, shopping, church, etc.).
• Attend an orientation.

The Language Partner Program is based on the program designed by the University of Louisville BSU International Ministry.
